FlexCards conform to the Lightning Web Components programming model.

What is the purpose of Flex Card Designer?

You can quickly configure, preview, and debug cards with Flex Card Designer.

You can format text, buttons, icons, photos, links, charts, tables, and even other Flex Cards by dragging and dropping, positioning, and re-sizing user interface (UI) elements onto a canvas.

What is OmniScript?

An OmniScript allow you to build a guided path for completing a business process and serves as a configurable way of creating a seamless customer experience.

You can create OmniScripts using an intuitive drag-and-drop editor that enables you to group various elements such as actions (extract data, send email), functions (formulas), input fields, and branching logic.

What is the best way to structure an OmniScript?

The best way to structure an OmniScript involves organizing its elements logically to create a seamless and efficient user experience. Below are best practices to follow when structuring an OmniScript:

1. Define Clear Objectives

  • Identify the purpose of the OmniScript, such as completing a transaction, collecting customer data, or providing step-by-step guidance.
  • Ensure the script’s structure aligns with the business goal and user needs.

2. Use a Modular Approach

  • Break down the OmniScript into distinct, manageable steps (e.g., data collection, processing, confirmation).
  • Group related actions and logic into separate steps to improve clarity and maintainability.

3. Optimize Navigation

There is a set of best practices exists for both Client-side performance and Server-side performance for omniScript.

  • Reduce Conditional Views, Merge Fields, Formulas where possible.
  • Speed up the application of responses by trimming the Response JSON.
  • Reduce the number of elements in the script. A single OmniScript should not exceed 200 elements
  • Run logic on the server where possible, including conditional logic in Integration Procedures and formulas in Data Mappers
  • Remove unnecessary data by trimming the Data Mapper extract output.
  • Test performance by enabling time tracking. If time tracking is not used in production, disable the feature before deploying to production

What is the difference between Salesforce Screen Flow and OmniScript?

What is a DataRaptor?

OmniStudio DataRaptors are now called Data Mappers. They supply data to OmniScripts, Integration Procedures, and Cards, and write updates from OmniScripts, Integration Procedures, and Cards to Salesforce. In this post we will talk about what is OmniStudio Data Mapper and Type of Data Mapper.

What areData Mappers core capabilities?

ETL For Salesforce : Data Mapper Mapping tool enable read, write and transform JSON and XML inputs. It also helped in perform intermediate data transformation without reading from or writing to Salesforce. Declarative no code/ Low Code : Data Mapper is a declarative tool and no code is required to get data from Salesforce. Substitute for Apex: Although apex classes can read write and transform data they can take longer to create and are harder to maintain then Data Mappers. Therefore, use Data Mapper as Vlocity best practice. Handle custom data Formulas : Data Mapper Extract and Load can handle custom data formats. It can access external object and custom metadata as well as sObject.

What are some Types of OmniStudio Data Mappers?

  • Turbo Extract: Read data from a single Salesforce object type, with support for fields from related objects. Then select the fields to include. Formulas and complex field mappings aren’t supported.
  • Extract: Read data from Salesforce objects and output JSON or XML with complex field mappings. Formulas are supported. We can data from one or more Objects.
  • Transform: Perform intermediate data transformations without reading from or writing to Salesforce. Formulas are supported.
  • Load: Update Salesforce data from JSON or XML input. Formulas are supported.

Describe some OmniStudio Data Mappers best practices?

  • Allocate space to Vlocity Metadata Platform Cache
  • Allocate space to Vlocity Metadata to cache Data Mapper Metadata. Allocate space only to Org Cache. You can allocate 5 MB or what is needed in your context.
  • Create targeted Data Mappers and limit the number of Objects to 3 where possible
  • Create targeted Data Mappers that only extract or load the data needed for one operation. Try to keep the number of objects to 3 or less
  • Use Relationship Query to reduce the number of Extract Objects
  • Use relationship notation (queries) whenever possible to pull data from other SObjects.
  • Trim the data sent to and received from Data Mapper
  • Send only the necessary input and return only the outputs you need.
  • Reduce where possible Data Mapper Formula
  • Data Mapper works in series, limit where possible the number of formulas for better performance
  • Use Turbo Extract, more performant where possible
  • When you have 1 Object to extract and no formula, Use Turbo
  • Use Data Mapper Data Cache (Session or Org)where possible
  • Use caching to store frequently accessed, infrequently updated data
  • Ensure that all filters and sorts have supporting indexes
  • Ensure that all filtering and sorting (ORDER BY) operations are on indexed fields. The Id and Name fields are always indexed.
  • Use OOTB functionality where possible before creating a custom Formula
  • Before creating a new formula, check the solution with:
  • OOTB formula Output Type OOTB config (Map Values)
  • Server processing time must be under 5 sec.
  • For synchronous Transaction, to avoid hitting Salesforce Governor Limits for Long Running Transaction, processing time must be under 5 sec.

What are some of the top common mistakes of Data Mappers

  • VlocityMetadata Platform Cache is not set
  • Teams are adding objects to the Data Mappers to get data that could be accomplished by using relationship queries
  • Teams are trying to create “Uber” Data Mappers to cover as many of their data needs as possible. (as high as 12 Objects)
  • Data Mapper receives more data than needed
  • Data Mapper uses many formulas (as high as 30)

What is the difference between Data Mapper Turbo Extract and Data Mapper Extract?

A Data Mapper Turbo Extract retrieves data from a single Salesforce object type, with support for fields from related objects. You can filter the data and select the fields to return. Data Mapper Turbo Extract doesn’t support formulas. There’s no Output tab, so you can’t use mappings to structure the output. Custom JSON, default values, and translations aren’t supported Data Mapper Extracts read Salesforce data and return results in JSON, XML, or custom formats. You can filter the data and select the fields to return. Formulas, default values, and translations are supported. Extracts typically provide OmniScripts, Integration Procedures, and Cards with the data they require.

What are Integration Procedures?

Integration Procedures is a declarative, server-side processes that execute multiple actions in a single server call. Merge the output to multiple APIs and orchestrate multi-step calculations. Can be used as a data source for an OmniScript, FlexCard, API, or Apex.

What are Calculation Procedures?

Calculation Procedures allow complex math to be configured within OmniStudio. Sometimes you need more than a simple mathematical equation, and configuring Calculation Procedures enables you to run just this kind of comprehensive and detailed set of mathematical processing steps.
